“Icecream in time” -A poem by Raegan Blair (she/her)

Icecream in time

It trickles between my fingers
And sticks in the webbed, fleshy part
Where the palm extends outwards
Hopelessly swiping at the sides

The thin napkin
Long since soaked through
Is heavy with the remnants
Of the sweet treat

It drips out of my hand
Helplessly to the concrete ground
The relentless sun
Beating

And as the ice cream pools on the pavement
Less ice, more cream
I wonder if
I should have eaten it faster
